Qualification in Details:Should be a citizen of India. Any practising Advocate who has completed 45 years of age as on 1- 6-2017 and 10 years of legal practice can apply for the post. The candidates will have to have fair knowledge of official language of Assam and its (Assam) historical background giving rise to foreigner’s issues.

Applicants are first required to go to the website www.ghconline.gov.in. download and take printout of the “Advertisement & Application Form”. Applicants are advised to go through the advertisement carefully before filling up the form. Applicant shall fill the Application Form and paste his/her recent passport sized coloured photograph in the given space of the application form and shall sign across the photograph. Four copies Of the same photograph should be stapled in the top right corner of the application form and the candidate should write his/her name on the reverse of the stapled photographs. The envelope containing the application form should be super scribed as “APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF MEMBER, FOREIGNER’S TRIBUNAL” and the same should be addressed to “The Joint Registrar (Recruitment), Gauhati High Court, 1st Floor, Old Block, Guwahati, Pin- 781001. The envelope containing the application form along with Other relevant documents should be dropped on or before 07/07/2017, during office hours, in DROP BOX labelled as “DROP BOX OF APPLICATION FOR THE POSTS OF MEMBER, FOREIGNER’S TRIBUNAL, ASSAM” kept in the Recruitment Cell of Gauhati High Court, Old Block at 1st Floor. Applications can also be sent to the above address by post, which should reach the given address on or before the last date (07/0712017, during office hour) of submitting application. Applications received after the last date will be summarily rejected. The High Court shall not be liable for any postal delays. Tenure Of the members

Tenure Of the members: Appointment of Lawyers as Member of the Tribunal will be purely on contractual basis for 2 years or as extended from time to time on need and performance basis. The candidate will be allowed to work/serve up to 60(sixty) years of age, if extension of service is allowed. Extension of service wilt be subject to approval by the High Court. The tenure of the Members so selected will be subject to their performance, suitabiliW, continued utility and time to time assessment done bv the Gauhati High Court.

About High Court of Gauhati

At present, the sanctioned Judge strength of the Gauhati High Court is 24 including the Hon'ble Chief Justice and 5 Additional Judges. Every Judge including the Chief Justice is appointed by the President of India by warrant under his hand and seal. Every permanent Judge continues in office until he attains the age of 62 years. The Additional Judges are appointed for a period not exceeding two years taking into account the temporary increase in the business or arrears of work of the High Court. Such Judges shall also not hold office after attaining the age of 62 years.
