About Himachal Road Transport Corporation

Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) is the state run bus service of Himachal Pradesh, India. HRTC with its 1957 buses serves routes to towns and cities within Himachal Pradesh and adjoining states of Uttrakhand, Chandigarh, Punjab, and Delhi. It also offers a facility for online booking of tickets. In the year 1958, Mandi-Kullu Road Transport Corporation was floated jointly by the Government of Punjab, Government of Himachal Pradesh and Railways under the Road Transport Corporation Act, 1950 basically to operate on the joint routes in the States of Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. With the re-organization of Punjab State in 1966, few hilly areas of Punjab were merged in Himachal Pradesh and operational areas of Mandi-Kullu Road Transport Corporation came entirely in the expanded State of Himachal Pradesh. On November 2, 1974, newly formed Himachal Govt. Transport was merged with Mandi-Kullu Road Transport Corporation and was renamed as Himachal Road Transport Corporation.
