DETAIL OF INDIAN AIR FORCE (IAF) GROUP ‘X’ (TECHNICAL)/ GROUP ‘Y’ RECRUITMENT:

Indian Air Force offers opportunities for UNMARRIED MALE INDIAN CITIZENS from the designated Districts of State of Kerala and Union Territories of Mahe & Lakshadweep to become airmen. The Recruitment Test for Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades and Group ‘Y’ {For Automobile Technician, Ground Training Instructor and Indian Air Force (Police)} Trades will be held at 14 Airmen Selection Centre, Air Force, VII/302-B, Vayu Sena Road, Kakkanad, Kochi (Kerala) from 26 March 2015 to 03 April 2015 as per the Selection Programme given below.

        1. EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
          • For Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades. (i) Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination with Mathematics, Physics and English, with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. OR (ii) Passed Three years Diploma Course in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics / Automobile / Computer Science / Instrumentation Technology / Information Technology) from a Government recognized Polytechnic Institute with 50% marks in overall aggregate and 50% marks in English in Diploma Course or in Intermediate / Matriculation, if English is not a subject in Diploma Course.
          • For Group ‘Y’ {For Automobile Technician, Ground Training Instructor and Indian Air Force (Police)} Trades. (i) Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / Equivalent Examination in any stream/subjects approved by Central/State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English. OR (ii) Passed Two years Vocational Course affiliated/recognised by CBSE / State Education Boards / Councils duly recognised at par with 10+2 byAssociation of Indian Universities (AIU) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English in Vocational Course or in Intermediate/ Matriculation if English is not a subject in Vocational Course. Note – 1: Boards recognized/affiliated by Council of Boards for Secondary Education (COBSE) will only be permitted. Note – 2: Exact aggregate percentage of marks up to first place of decimal for all subjects as mentioned in the Marks Sheet of Intermediate or 10+2 or equivalent will only be considered (For example, 49.9% will be treated as 49% only).
        2. TENURE & TRAINING. Enrolment is for an initial period of 20 years extendable upto the age of 57 years. Initially candidates will be sent for a Joint Basic Phase Training (JBPT) at Basic Training Institute, Belgaum (Karnataka). On successful completion of JBPT candidates will be sent for trade training of specified durations. Training is however liable to be terminated at any time if the trainee fails to achieve the required standards in academics, profession, physical fitness and discipline or is found to be medically unfit. After successful completion of training, the airmen will be deployed on ground based jobs as per their allotted trades. 11. PAY & ALLOWANCES. . Monthly Pay. During training, a stipend of Rs. 11,400/- per month will be paid. On completion of training the starting gross emoluments at the minimum of scale of pay including Grade Pay, Military Service Pay (MSP), Group ‘X’ Pay {applicable for Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades only} and Dearness Allowance (DA) will be as follows:- (a) Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades. Rs. 24,900/- per month (approximately) which, in subsequent years, may rise up to Rs. 43,940/- per month (approximately). (b) Group ‘Y’ {For Automobile Technician, Ground Training Instructor and Indian Air Force (Police)} Trades. Rs. 20,500/- per month (approximately) which, in subsequent years, may rise up to Rs. 38,720/- per month (approximately). Other allowances such as Transport allowance, Technical Allowance {applicable for Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades only}, Composite personal maintenance allowance (CPMA), Leave Ration allowance (LRA), Family planning allowance, HRA etc. are also admissible to airmen.
        3. JOB SPECIFICATION
          • Group ‘X’ (Technical) Trades involve jobs as given below: (i) Automobile Fitter. In this trade you are responsible for maintenance and repair of all type of light and heavy duty mechanical vehicles, cranes and loading equipment etc. (ii) Electronics Fitter. As an Electronics Fitter you operate and maintain Radar, Voice and Data transmission and reception equipment mounted on latest airborne weapon delivery systems and ground based air defense systems. You will get trained in Digital Electronics, measuring instruments, radar technology, latest electronics devices and related trade fundamentals. (iii) Electrical Fitter. You will maintain power supply system of latest types of aircraft, airborne missiles and associated ground systems. You will also maintain photo equipment mounted on air borne weapon systems and operate ground based photo systems. You will get trained in electrical trade, operation and maintenance of digital devices, electronic devices etc. (iv) Mechanical System Fitter. You will repair and maintain mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems of airborne missiles, engines, automobiles and aircraft fuelling equipment. Complete aircraft ground support equipment will also be repaired and maintained by you. You will be trained in handling and preparation of bombs and explosives and in electrical system, workshop and mechanical trades as well as automobile mechanics. (v) Structures Fitter. As Structures Fitter you are responsible for the maintenance and servicing of airframes and their accessories, components and controls of aircraft. Regular checks for the entire hydraulic and pneumatic system to ensure proper functioning against leaks are also part of your duties. You will also be assigned the responsibility of marshaling, parking, picketing and ground handling of aircraft. (vi) Propulsion Fitter. In this trade you will repair, maintain and prepare for use the propulsion system of aircraft and other airborne weapon delivery system. (vii) Workshop Fitter (Smith). You will undertake major structural repairs of all aircraft at central repair facilities. You will also be trained in workshop trade for material treatment, welding, heat treatment, smithy and basic machine tools etc. (viii) Workshop Fitter (Mechanical). You will undertake repair and maintenance work of mechanical nature. You will be trained in workshop trade and practices. (ix) Weapon Fitter. In this trade, you will prepare, maintain and service armaments, ammunition and safety equipment of aircraft, missiles and other weapon delivery systems. You will also operate and maintain small arms and bomb destruction equipment. You will be trained to handle bombs, explosives, arms and their installation on weapon delivery platforms.
          • Group ‘Y’ {For Automobile Technician, Ground Training Instructor and Indian Air Force (Police)} Trades involve jobs as given below: (i) Automobile Technician. As an Automobile Technician you will drive all types of light, medium and heavy automobiles, load carriers and specialist vehicles like cranes, towing tractors, fork lifters etc., subject to service exigencies. You will also carry out minor repairs, day to day maintenance and basic level servicing of the common user vehicles and specialist vehicles in the Indian Air Force inventory. (ii)Ground Training Instructor. As a Ground Training Instructor, you will train personnel on drill, parade, handling of arms and physical exercise. You are also responsible for organizing and conducting all games and sports activities. (iii) Indian Air Force (Police). As an Indian Air Force (Police) your responsibilities involve assuming police duties and investigation of offences. You are also in-charge of maintenance of security

SELECTION PROCEDURE FOR INDIAN AIR FORCE (IAF)- GROUP ‘X’ (TECHNICAL)/ GROUP ‘Y’ POST: 

        1. Candidates can apply on or before  03-04-2015
        2. VERIFICATION OF ELIGIBILITY. Original Certificates, Mark Sheets and other required documents {NCC ‘A’, ‘B’ or ‘C’ certificate, Son of Air Force personnel certificate (SOAFP), Domicile certificate etc.) will be scrutinized and verified at the examination venue prior to commencement of Written Test to ascertain the prima-facie eligibility. Detailed verification will be carried out in respect of candidates who pass Written Test later. Candidature of those who do not meet the laid down educational criteria is liable to be rejected even after written test after detailed verification of original documents.
        3. The Recruitment Test will be conducted from 7 AM onwards as per the details given below. CANDIDATES WILL BE ALLOWED TO APPEAR AS PER THE TIME AND DATE ALLOTTETD DURING PRE-REGISTRATION FROM 02 MARCH 2015 TO 04 MAR 2015.
