JAG ENTRY SCHEME 17TH COURSE (OCT 2016) SHORT SERVICE COMMISSION COURSE FOR LAW GRADUATES (MEN AND WOMEN)

The Indian Army is looking for the best and the brightest LAW GRADUATES Married/Unmarried men and Unmarried women for grant of Short Service Commission in the Indian Army for Judge Advocate General Branch.

Vacancies. Men – 10, Women – 04.

Conditions of Eligibility. (a) Nationality. Must be an Indian Citizen.

Age Limit. 21 to 27 years as on 01 Jul 2016 (Born not earlier than 02 Jul 89 and not later than 01 Jul 95).

Educational Qualification. Minimum 55% aggregate marks in LLB Degree (three years course after graduation or five years course after 10+2 examination). The candidates should be eligible for registration with Bar Council of India/State. Candidate should be from a College/University recognized by Bar Council of India.

Physical Standards. (a) Height & Weight. The minimum acceptable height and weight for men is 157.5 cms with correlated weight and for women candidate is 152 cm and 42 kg. In case of candidates belonging to the North East and hilly areas like Gorkhas, Nepalese, Assamese and Garhwalis, the height is relaxed by 5 cms and weight commensurate with reduced height. In case of candidates from Lakshadweep, the minimum acceptable height is reduced by 2cms

Visual Standards. For male candidate distance Vision (Corrected) better eye 6/6 and worse eye 6/18. Myopia should not be more than 3.5D and hypermetropia not more than 3.5D including Astigmatism. For women candidates the minimum acceptable visual acuity are Distant Vision(corrected) better eye 6/6, worse 6/18, Myopia of not more than minus 5.5 including Astigmatism. Internal examination of the eye will be done by means of ophthalmoscope to rule out any disease of the eye. A candidate must have good binocular vision. The colour vision standard will be CP-III. A candidate should be able to recognize red and green colours. Candidates who have undergone or have the evidence of having undergone Radial Keratotomy to improve the visual acuity will be permanently rejected. In order to detect PRK/LASIK all the candidates at SMB will be subjected to the measurement of Axial length by A-Scan biometer. Candidates aged 20 years or above who have undergone Laser Surgery for correction of refractive error will be considered for commission in Army If they fulfill following criteria :

Tenure of Engagement: Short Service Commission to Officers (Male and Female) in the regular Army will be granted for 14 years i.e. for an initial period of 10 years extendable by a further period of 04 years. Officers who are willing to continue to serve in the Army after the expiry of period of ten years in Short Service Commission may, if eligible and suitable in all respects, be considered for the grant of permanent commission in the 10th year of their Short Service Commission in accordance with the relevant rules. Those SSC officers, who are not selected for grant of PC but are otherwise considered fit and suitable, will be given options to continue as SSCOs for a total period of 14 years (including the initial tenure of 10 years) on expiry of which they will be released from the Army

Selection Procedure : 

Candidates can apply on or before    16/2/2016.

Two stage selection procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test is held at Selection Centres. All the candidates will face stage one test on first day of reporting at Selection Centres. The candidates who fail to pass stage one will be returned on the same day

Candidates who qualify stage one will be retained for stage –II test comprising of Group Test, Psychological Tests and Interview which will extend for a duration of 4 days(excluding stg-I day). Candidates who qualify Stg-II will submit self attested photo copy of educational documents mentioned in Para 27 (a) to (g) to Selection Centre for completion of their dossier/verification

The candidates who qualify at the Service Selection Board and are found medically fit by a Medical Board will be placed in order of merit. The final selection will be made in that order up to the number of vacancies available at that time

HOW TO APPLY: Applications will only be accepted online on website “www.joinindianarmy.nic.in”. (a) Open the website “www.joinindianarmy.nic.in”. (b) Click on ‘Apply/Login’ and then click ‘Registration. (c) Follow onscreen instructions for registration. After registration, your profile will open. Click on ‘Apply Online’ to process. (d) Your registration details will confirm your eligibility to apply and proceed with the application as per onscreen instructions. (e) Before submitting the application check the entries made and save the application. After submitting the form an acknowledgement with a Roll Number will be provided to the candidate. If the system does not generate Roll Number, it is an indication of non acceptance of application by the system. After submitting, take out two copies of the printout and the Roll Number generated by the system. (f) Any change in your postal address, telephone Number, etc after submission of application must be communicated by post duly quoting your Roll Number, name and course opted for. (g) Please ensure correctness of your particulars while filling up online application form. No correspondence regarding amendment to particulars once filled up shall be entertained at any stage and the form shall be rejected.

Candidates must submit only one application. Receipt of multiple applications from the same candidate will result in cancellation of candidature. ONLINE APPLICATION WILL OPEN ON 18 JAN 2016 AT 1000 HRS AND WILL BE CLOSED ON 16 FEB AT 1700 HRS

Change of Interview Dates. (a) Request for change of SSB interview dates will not be accepted. However under most unavoidable circumstances such a change may be considered based on the circumstances of the case. This will be an exception rather than the rule. Requests for such change duly supported by relevant documents should be sent to the Selection Centre from where the call-up letter for SSB Interview has been received and NOT to Directorate General of Recruiting. (b) Candidates failing to intimate the reasons for not attending SSB interview on the due date, to the selection Centre from where the call up letter was received, will not be afforded any further chance to attend SSB interview. (c) No request for change of interview Centre will be entertained under any circumstances. 8 30. Any ambiguity/false information/concealment of information detected in the certificates will result in cancellation of the candidature at any stage of selection.
