Detail Of Post:

Applications are invited for “DBT Energy Biosciences Chairs”, a senior level scheme of the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Government of India.

Objective The scheme is aimed at engaging senior scientists of Indian origin working in modern biological sciences, and who are desirous of pursuing, complementing and enhancing quality of R&D in energy related biosciences in Indian institutions.

Eligibility 1. The applicant should possess a PhD with 15-20 years of research experience, out of which 15 years should be in the energy biosciences related areas. 2. The Scientists in the age group of 50-65 years are eligible to apply. 3. Only candidate of Indian origin working overseas are eligible to apply.

Each awardee will receive the emolument of (a) Rs. 1,15,038/- p.m. and (b) a contingency grant of Rs 10.00 lakhs per year for a period of five years. The
Research /contingency grant can be utilized towards purchase of equipments, consumables, international and domestic travel, engaging manpower and other contingent expenditure to be incurred in connection with the implementation of the project. The institute / university where the applicant proposes to work may consider giving additional benefits (such as house rent allowance/housing, medical expenses, leave travel allowance and other benefits) as applicable to regular faculty. This may be directly taken up by the applicants with the Indian Institution that proposes to host them.

Duration  The duration of the fellowship will be for a period of FIVE years.

Each awardee is expected to submit an annual progress report highlighting major achievements during the preceding year in which fellowship was awarded (1st April – 31st March) & will end the following March.

The Energy Bioscience Chair position cannot be availed along with a regular salary.
