Detail Of Post:

National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB), an autonomous institute under the aegis of Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, is aimed to harness novel and emerging biotechnologies and create knowledge in the cutting edge areas for improving animal health and productivity. The Institute’s research focus is on animal genetics and genomics, transgenic technology, reproductive technology, infectious diseases, nutritional enrichment, and bioinformatics. The Institute aims at translational research leading to genetic enhancement of Indian Livestock species and development of novel vaccines, diagnostics and improved therapeutic molecules for farm animals. The Institute has state of the art infrastructure facilities for research activities. NIAB invites applications from interested and eligible scientists who wish to be sponsored by and/or hosted at NIAB for any of the following fellowships offered by
the Government of India : Ramanujan / Ramalingaswami / DST Inspire Faculty / DBT Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award.

Eligibility for Ramanujan Fellows i) The fellowship is open to brilliant scientists and engineers from all over the world who are below the age of 60 years.
ii) The applicant should possess a higher degree or equivalent, such as Ph.D. in Science/Engineering, Masters in Engineering or Technology/MD in Medicine, etc. and have adequate professional experience. iii) These fellowships are very selective and only those who have a proven/outstanding tractrecord as evident from their research publications and recognitions would be eligible. iv) The candidate has to opt for either this fellowship or his present position/fellowship, if any. For more details visit:

Eligibility for Ramalingaswami Fellows i) Scientists working in any area of life sciences & biotechnology, bio-engineering, health care (human and animal), agriculture and veterinary biotechnology, bio- energy and allied areas will be eligible to apply. Call for Hosting Scientists for Ramanujan, Ramalingaswami , DST Inspire Faculty and Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award at NIAB, Hyderabad ii) The applicant should possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in life sciences/ agriculture, bioinformatics or M.Tech. in engineering or technology/ medicine etc. with at least three years of post-doctoral research experience in overseas research laboratories. Eligibility for DST INSPIRE Faculty Fellows DST Inspire faculty fellowship can be acquired by three modes viz., Nomination, Direct, and Institution with the following criteria. Essential i) Indian citizens and people of Indian origin including NRI/PIO status with Ph.D. (in science, mathematics, engineering, pharmacy, medicine, and agriculture related subjects) from any recognized university in the world. ii) Those who have submitted their Ph.D. Thesis and are awaiting award of the degree are also eligible. iii) The upper age limit at the time of awarding the offer should be 32 years for considering support for a period of 5 years. iv) Candidates who are employed (in any form i.e. permanent, contractual) with any organization within India will be eligible to apply. However, they will be considered only for the Research Grant component of the INSPIRE Faculty Award scheme. Desirable (i) Candidate who are within top 1% at the School Leaving Examination, IIT-JEE rank, 1st Rank Holder either in graduation or post-graduation level university examination (which are used presently for identifying INSPIRE Scholars at under-graduate level and INSPIRE Fellows for doctoral degree). (ii) Publications with aggregate Impact Factor 10 or at least three (one in case of Mathematics)research publications in SCI journals of high Impact Factor. For more details visit:

Eligibility for Innovative Young Biotechnologist Award The applicant should have an excellent academic career and also should have publications in high impact journals and/or should have invented technologies supported by Indian/ International patents. The proposed research project should clearly reflect the innovative thinking and execution capabilities of the applicant. The minimum eligibility criteria for applicants will be the following: (i) The candidate should have secured First Class grades in examinations of all academic courses for award of a degree from the graduate level onwards. (ii) Cumulative publication impact factor of 10 or Cumulative publication impact factor of 5 with two granted Indian Patents or one International patent. (iii) Qualification: Ph.D. in any branch of life sciences including Medicine, Veterinary Sciences, Pharmacy, Agricultural Sciences, and engineering sciences. Master degree in Medicine, Engineering/Technology is also eligible to apply. (iv) Age limit: 35 years or below as on 31st December 2015. Age relaxation of 5 years would be given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, Women and Physically Handicapped Category. (Necessary attested copies of supporting documents to this effect have to be enclosed).
