SIDBI is seeking to hire the services of One Theme Leader (Gender and Financial Literacy) to be based at Delhi office and undertake several tasks related to the oversight on programme design & delivery to ensure it meets gender equality commitments of the PSIG programme.

ABOUT THE PSIG PROGRAMME: DFID-India has partnered with Small Industries Development Bank of India to deliver an ambitious Poorest State Inclusive Growth (PSIG) programme. This, seven-year, £30 m technical assistance programme aims to increase access to financial services for 12 million low income households in the four poorest states of India viz. Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Odisha. PSIG is currently in third year of its operations and has three distinct, but interrelated, outputs of working at policy, institutional and client level. The programme plays specific attention to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment through financial literacy, gender mainstreaming of microfinance institutions and promotion of gender sensitive products and services. 3 million women are expected to report improvement in social status & greater mobility at the end of the intiative.
CONTRACTUAL STATUS AND DURATION: The position will be a contractual position with PSIG, SIDBI for period i.e. upto March 31, 2018 subject to annual review and continuation of the Programme by DFID.
JOB PROFILE Provide Strategic Oversight on programme design & delivery to ensure it meets gender equality goals Leadership and decision-making on gender equality – as member of the core team to ensure all key project decisions include gender equality Identify gender equality gaps in programme plan, design and implementation and take appropriate steps to redress these Support and capacitate SIDBI/PMU members on integrating/incorporating gender equality in their work areas/deliverables Manage development of gender mainstreaming tool kit to promote gender sensitive MFI policies, operations and implementation – contract appropriate agency/individual, oversee design & quality assure the mainstreaming initiative Manage the women’s empowerment and financial literacy training pilot initiatives & scale-up of the programme Collaborate with M&E Team Leader to ensure reporting against gender specific social indicators and development of robust evidence to capture change in women’s lives Initiate discussions on gender & financial inclusion & disseminate learning across the programme and outside Build strong working relationships with DFID, PSIG team, PSIG Advisory group and partner institutions
The expert(s) shall be attached on a full time basis as Theme Leader Gender and Financial Literacy with SIDBI PSIG Programme Management Unit (PMU) for the aforesaid DFID Project.
ELIGIBILITY Masters Degree in relevant discipline such as gender, women’s development, social sciences, business management etc. preferred Excellent understanding of of gender, poverty, vulnerability and exclusion trends across the four states Demonstrated technical expertise in design, , implemention, , management, & supervision, , of similar Gender programmes (15 years experience preferred). Experience in PSIG states is preferred. Demonstrated understanding of financial inclusion in general and microfinance in particular Experience in working on gender & women’s empowerment programmes supported by DFID or Other donor agencies is preferred. Ability to work independently and completion of tasks against tight deadlines Excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Hindi, and ability to communicate in both languages; Ability to produce high-quality technical documents as well as presentations and project reports.
COMPENSATION The compensation shall be market driven and shall be commensurate with experience.
